The Kekoldi indigenous reserve is a site of global importance for the counting, monitoring and observation of migrations, due to the strategic location every year there are thousands and thousands of birds that fly over this area, at least 360 species have been identified.

Ringed for its study and measure its population, habitat and reproduction. The migration of raptors is a unique spectacular phenomenon in the Costa Rican Caribbean; Kéköldi is the second largest hawkbill sighting site in Latin America, with a platform that facilitates counting and observation. The months of sighting in Kéköldi, February to May and August to December in flight back to the SouthAmerica for the winter. We can count between 150 and 650 thousand birds among them: vultures, hawks, hawk, peregrine falcon, sparrow hawk. Our local guides have specialized in this activity, actively participate in the research and counts that are carried out year after year.
